Abstract

A wide-ranging bibliography documenting appearances of the term “metacrisis” — and its variants (meta-crisis, Metakrise, métacrise, metacrisi, mega-meta-crisis) — across books, theses, and dissertations. Entries range from ancient and early-modern medical usage (the Galenic Metacrisis / De Crisibus tradition) and a 1914 political usage, through twentieth-century sociology, theology, philosophy, and systems theory, to the concept’s rapid contemporary spread across ecology, psychology, integral theory, and polycrisis studies.

Each entry pairs a source — with author and year — to a representative quotation showing how that writer invokes the concept, making visible both the term’s deep historical roots and the divergent senses in which it is used today. Compiled by Evan Tabak Atlas as a reference companion to his work on the metacrisis and metarevolution.
