Metacrisis and Metarevolution

Abstract

A companion reader that gathers the key definitions and passages on two concepts — metacrisis and metarevolution — from across the 486 pages of A Metarevolutionary Manifesto (2024). A metacrisis is defined as a complex system whose elements are crises, exhibiting its own emergent behavior beyond that of its constituent crises; a metarevolution is the corresponding higher-order mode of action, directed between and beyond individual crises and revolutions toward the underlying conditions of change.

Organized into two sections — one per concept — the collection distills the book’s argument into an ordered set of quotations for reading and for reference. It is offered less as a text to be read start to finish than as an overview and a citable map of where each idea is developed.
